Welcome to the Learning Lighthouse. We are a tutoring company that believes in empowering students with direct instruction in reading, writing and math.
Maureen (Director) has worked with students for over 15 years and believes that all students can learn to read. She creates her learning models with a student focus and believes that students learn from not just memorizing, but by understanding the ‘why’. Each students is provided with a program that is made and shifted to be fit their specific needs. Maureen often works with students who need direct reading therapy and learners who often are not reading at grade level. Maureen focuses her sessions specific for reading and writing and works with students from Kindergarten to Grade 9.
Erin (Senior Tutor) is a BC certified teacher who has been teaching for over 5 years. She believes in the idea of empowering learners to feel confident and prepared for the classroom. Her models align with establish a good foundation in reading, writing and math as she believes this helps students build their fluency, accuracy and critical thinking skills. Erin focuses her sessions on reading, writing and math and works with students from Grade 1 to 9.
The Learning Lighthouse believes in providing developmentally appropriate materials and learning opportunities for students. We create our student’s plans with a BC Curriculum focus. We are happy to work with all learners, including students with specific learning needs (learners with ADHD, ADD, Learning Disabilities, Autism, Anxiety, etc).

Each tutor has their own rates based off experience, education, speciality and tutor option.
